Isabelle Talks Artefacts

Tapping into founder Isabelle's behind-the-scenes insights into the conceptual process for developing Artefacts, including what inspired her, why she chose this direction, and where she envisions Björk and Berries heading.

Tell us about this exciting new chapter.

With Artefacts, I wanted to open the cabinet that holds our stories, the references, objects, materials and ideas that form the universe of Björk and Berries.

Long before we create a fragrance, there is a world around it. Swedish landscapes and traditions, an artwork, a material, a memory, a house. These references may never be visible in the final object, but they shape how we think, what we make and the stories we choose to tell.

For me, inspiration has always moved freely between disciplines. Fragrance may be our starting point, but the ideas behind it often come from elsewhere , from art, nature, architecture and design or literature. Artefacts give us a way to bring these influences forward, celebrating the objects and makers that inspire us.

The idea became tangible when we opened our flagship at Riddargatan 20 in Stockholm. I wanted Björk and Berries to feel less like a store and more like a home, a place where every piece of furniture holds its own story, and echoes our Swedish heritage of making things.

In our artefacts collection, some pieces are designed by Björk and Berries. Others will come from artists, makers and practitioners whose work we have followed for years, or from those we have recently discovered and want to stand alongside our own.

The selection continues to grow as we find new pieces. All of it is on display at Björk and Berries Flagship store in Stockholm. We look forward to having our community join us on this journey, so if you are a maker or creator who would like to connect, please reach out!
